It's the measure of how much oxygen your body can deliver to the working muscles and it's ability to extract that oxygen from the blood and use it.
The example in the PT manual (pg.'s 9&10) uses some assumed information, such as the client's stroke volume. This is not something that you'd be able to measure or safely estimate. The main point is to understand how to explain the relationship between cardiac output, heart rate, and stroke volume. I haven't taken the exam yet, so someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I've heard that you won't have to calcuate VO2 Max on the exam.Posts:
